Shanghai (Gasgoo)- A new group standard for electric passenger vehicle-used shared battery swapping stations in China has sailed through review and is expected to be launched this year, according to the China Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Promotion Alliance (EVCIPA).

The formulation of the yet-to-be-launched standard involves efforts of such public listed battery manufacturers as CATL and Sunwoda.

At the review meeting, experts were discussing a slew of significant issues including the voltage platform and battery pack inclusion dimensions involved in shared battery swap stations.

Dong Yang, President of the EVCIPA, said the battery swapping is one of the important energy supply methods to new energy vehicles and its standardization is getting increasing important as well.

As publicly revealed, around 30 automakers in China, including NIO, BAIC BJEV, SAIC Motor, Geely Auto, and GAC Group, have tapped the battery swapping business with nearly 60 battery swappable vehicle models already launched. Nevertheless, a uniform industrial standard has not been released yet to normalize the infrastructure building of different companies.

To solve this problem, the new document will include a wide range of standardize details, such as the logo & tagline and locations of battery swapping stations.

The new industrial group standard is not a compulsory rule and will be continuously adjusted based on feedbacks of industrial players, the change of technologies, and the market development.
