The brand announced on March 29 it has delivered 50,000 vehicles within 11 months of its first customer handovers, which began in late April 2025. The pace highlights accelerating traction for NIO's latest sub-brand as it expands beyond its traditional premium lineup.
FIREFLY was introduced in late 2024 as part of NIO's broader multi-brand strategy aimed at diversifying its product portfolio. Its debut model went on sale in China on April 19, 2025, with deliveries starting ten days later. Initially offered in two styling variants, the model entered the market with starting prices just under 120,000 yuan. Delivery volumes ramped steadily through 2025, reaching 20,000 units by September and doubling to 40,000 by mid-January 2026—an expansion achieved in just over four months, signaling improving production and market acceptance.
Positioned as a premium small EV, the Firefly model blends compact dimensions with a design-led approach. Measuring just over four meters in length, the car incorporates biomimicry-inspired styling cues, highlighted by distinctive triple-ring LED lighting signatures and a floating two-tone exterior. Inside, the cabin emphasizes modularity and everyday usability, with flexible storage solutions, a reconfigurable center console, and integrated wireless charging features aimed at urban drivers seeking both functionality and refinement.
On the technical side, the model is equipped with a 42.1 kWh battery pack, delivering a CLTC-rated range of up to 420 km. Efficiency is a central selling point: a low drag coefficient of 0.287Cd and an in-house developed integrated electric drive system contribute to energy consumption of just 10.9 kWh per 100 km. The setup reflects NIO's effort to strike a balance between range, efficiency, and performance in the entry-level premium EV segment, where cost sensitivity and technological differentiation increasingly intersect.
