Huajing S goes on sale as SGMW, Huawei co-developed 6-seat SUV

Gasgoo (Munich)- SAIC-GM-Wuling on May 8 officially put the Huajing S, a new six-seat SUV jointly developed with Huawei's Qiankun intelligent automotive division, onto the market, while also unveiling Huajing as a standalone vehicle brand under the joint venture.

The Huajing S enters the market with four trim levels priced between 149,800 yuan and 193,800 yuan under the company's trade-in subsidy program. All variants adopt plug-in hybrid powertrains and come standard with Huawei Qiankun ADS Pro advanced driver-assistance technology, including urban navigation-assisted driving functions available from launch.

The model highlights the increasingly close collaboration between Chinese automakers and Huawei in the smart vehicle segment, particularly as automakers seek to differentiate themselves through intelligent driving and cockpit technologies rather than hardware alone.

Stylistically, the Huajing S adopts a more upscale and technology-focused design language than previous SAIC-GM-Wuling SUVs. Exterior highlights include matrix LED headlamps, a full-width rear light bar, and illuminated charging indicators integrated into the vehicle's side profile.

The front fascia combines L-shaped air channels with a large polygonal lower intake to create a more performance-oriented appearance. Buyers can choose from four exterior finishes: Obsidian Black, Jade White, Agate Gray, and Amber Blue.

The SUV measures 5,235 mm in length, 1,999 mm in width, and 1,800 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,105 mm, placing it firmly in the large-family SUV category. Unlike some newer Chinese EVs, the model retains conventional mechanical door handles rather than flush retractable units.

Inside, the Huajing S features a wraparound cockpit layout centered around a fully digital instrument cluster, a 5.6-inch central control display, and a dual-tone multifunction steering wheel. The front row also includes ventilated wireless smartphone charging and dual cupholders.

The cabin adopts a 2+2+2 six-seat arrangement designed to emphasize long-distance comfort. Front seats support 180-degree recline, ventilation, heating, and eight-point massage functions. Second-row captain's chairs offer six-way power adjustment, integrated 400 mm leg rests, one-touch recline capability, and dedicated fast-charging ports.

SAIC-GM-Wuling said the third-row seats provide a width of 1,120 mm, along with 473 mm seat cushion depth and 60 mm cushion thickness. The third row also supports up to 125 degrees of electric recline adjustment. A flat-floor layout and a 190 mm aisle between the second and third rows are intended to improve cabin accessibility.

The SUV is available with Sandalwood Brown and Ivory Beige interior themes, while higher-spec variants add rear entertainment screens for second-row passengers.

Technology integration is one of the Huajing S' primary selling points. Every version comes equipped with Huawei Qiankun driver assistance systems, the HarmonySpace smart cockpit platform, and Huawei's IVCS cloud-based vehicle connectivity architecture.

The SUV also debuts Huawei's in-cabin laser vision sensing solution, known as Limera. The system adopts a fully solid-state LiDAR structure integrated into the cabin rather than mounted externally, a design Huawei says improves aesthetics and simplifies maintenance and cleaning.

According to the company, the system combines laser and visual sensing within a shared optical path, enabling near-simultaneous data fusion to improve perception accuracy. Huawei claims the setup boosts the detection range for small 30 cm objects by 43% compared with conventional solutions.

The infotainment system supports seamless smartphone-to-vehicle integration, Huawei's "Super Desktop" interface, and four-zone voice interaction.

Its connected vehicle platform also includes remote vehicle control, sentry monitoring functions, and digital key support compatible with Apple, Android, and HarmonyOS smartphones, allowing passive entry and locking functionality across multiple ecosystems.

Powering the Huajing S is a dedicated 1.5-liter turbocharged hybrid engine paired with a ten-in-one hybrid transmission featuring an electromagnetic clutch system.

The front-wheel-drive version delivers a maximum system output of 200 kW and an official 0–100 km/h acceleration time of 8.3 seconds. The all-wheel-drive variant raises combined output to 386 kW and peak torque to 620 N·m, enabling a claimed 0–100 km/h sprint in 5.2 seconds.

In battery-power-only mode, the two-wheel-drive model offers up to 255 km of range, while the all-wheel-drive version delivers 235 km. SAIC-GM-Wuling claims total combined driving range exceeds 1,100 km with a full tank and fully charged battery.

Official fuel consumption in battery-depleted conditions is listed at 5.98 L/100 km for the front-wheel-drive version and 6.98 L/100 km for the all-wheel-drive model. The battery pack supports 3.5C fast charging, with the company stating the state of charge can increase from 10% to 60% in 12 minutes.

The chassis setup combines a double-wishbone front suspension with a multi-link rear independent suspension system. Suspension tuning was jointly developed by Huajing and Multimatic, with the vehicle also equipped with electronically controlled continuously variable damping technology.

According to official figures, the damping system responds within 10 milliseconds. The SUV has a turning radius of 5.85 meters, which can be reduced to 5.65 meters under intelligent steering assistance mode. Official braking distance from 100 km/h is rated at 36.2 meters.
