A Six-Figure Wagon: How Good is the Lynk & Co 07 GT?

Edited by Taylor From Gasgoo

Gasgoo Munich-On June 29, marking Lynk & Co's 10th anniversary, the brand's first station wagon—the 07 GT—made its global debut and opened for pre-orders. Three standard trims are priced between 165,800 and 185,800 yuan, while a limited "Time Edition" priced at 208,800 yuan sold out immediately after the launch event.

It’s called the 07 GT, not the 07 Wagon. Those two letters draw a sharp line: this isn't a wagon compromised for cargo capacity, but a performance machine wrapped in a station wagon body.

Putting Supercar Suspension into a Six-Figure Car

First, the exterior. The front fascia features LED "Dawn" daytime running lights with high recognizability. The lower bumper adopts a three-stage design inspired by the checkered flag at a race finish line.

Measuring 4,846 mm long, 1,900 mm wide, and 1,485 mm tall with a 2,843 mm wheelbase, the car boasts a width-to-height ratio of 1.28. It comes fully equipped with semi-hidden door handles, frameless doors, and frameless mirrors. The rear features a 1,354 mm continuous taillight integrating 204 LEDs. The Time Limited Edition adds exclusive matte Brown Grey paint, a dry carbon fiber wing, and high-gloss blue four-piston calipers.

Inside, the wraparound cabin offers five interior color schemes, including Fjord Green, Long Beach White, and Reef Black. Both front seats feature 12-way electric adjustment with heating, ventilation, and massage functions, while rear seatbacks adjust between 119° and 129°.

Tech includes a 15.4-inch 2.5K central screen, a 10.2-inch full LCD instrument cluster, and a 95-inch AR-HUD. The system runs on LYNK Flyme Auto 2.5 with 30 TOPS of AI computing power. A new physical Eva robot has been added, capable of facial expressions, voice interaction, and itinerary planning.

A 23-speaker Harman Kardon system, a 5.5-liter hot and cold box, and a 1/4-inch threaded interface are included. That last detail is intriguing: the driver's side can secure filming equipment, and a dash cam can be mounted near the rearview mirror.

The chassis is where this car least resembles a traditional wagon. It features MRC magnetic suspension, previously used mainly on supercars like the Corvette and Ferrari Daytona SP3. With a response time of 1 ms and adjustment latency of just 10 ms—roughly ten times faster than CDC suspension—it pairs with a proprietary road preview algorithm to adjust damping based on road conditions 15 meters ahead.

Certified by the China Automotive Technology and Research Center (CATRC), the vehicle achieved a moose test speed of 82.1 km/h with a roof box and 81.9 km/h while towing equipment.

Power comes from the CMA architecture and EM-P smart hybrid platform, combining a 1.5T hybrid-specific engine with a front-mounted motor. The system delivers a combined output of 300 kW and peak torque of 615 Nm. The all-wheel-drive version bumps output to 390 kW and 765 Nm, accelerating from zero to 100 km/h in just 5.5 seconds. Under CLTC conditions, pure electric range exceeds 200 km, with a total range reaching 1,422 km.

Intelligent driving assistance comes standard across the lineup with a 128-line equivalent LiDAR and 27 perception sensors. High-spec models use the Thor-U chip, supporting map-free city NOA and door-to-door (D2D) navigation, while mid- and low-spec models feature the Orin-Y chip for highway NOA.

Overall, the Lynk & Co 07 GT packs supercar suspension, standard LiDAR, and 1,422 km of range into a wagon body, all starting at 165,800 yuan.

Why Lynk & Co Needs a Wagon

Lynk & Co's shift toward new energy is moving faster than outside perception suggests. By 2025, new energy vehicles will account for 65% of sales, marking a strategic pivot from internal combustion dominance to NEV leadership.

The 07 GT first fills a structural gap in the lineup. Lynk & Co previously focused on SUVs and sedans; the 07 EM-P sedan starts at 155,800 yuan and maintains steady monthly sales of around 5,000 units.

Building on the sedan, the 07 GT enhances cargo capacity and personalized design, expanding the reach of the EM-P platform into finer segments.

But its greater value lies in creating a new category. The domestic wagon market has long been dominated by import brands with high prices, while local alternatives often lack either performance chassis or expandability.

With a starting price of 165,800 yuan, the 07 GT shatters the wagon price barrier. Positioned as a "sport wagon," it doesn't just need to haul like a traditional wagon or run like a pure performance car—it hits a sweet spot with no direct rivals.

Why a wagon now? A direct reason is the need to ground seven years of TCR racing dominance, including nine championships. Suspension tuning, damping settings, and body control data from the track need a practical vehicle that can carry a performance label.

SUVs are too heavy; sedans lack space. The wagon is the balance point. Lynk & Co announced that starting in the third quarter, the 07 GT will serve as the official race car for rally events, verifying performance on mud, gravel, and other unpaved surfaces. Using racing to feed mass production, and mass production to validate racing technology, is a logic that fits the wagon category even better than sedans or SUVs.

Strategically, Lynk & Co chose not to pile features into the already saturated SUV or sedan markets. Instead, it’s building a first-mover advantage in a niche segment with modest volume but visible growth.

The domestic wagon market is indeed limited—enthusiasts are vocal, but their wallets are often hesitant. Yet the 07 GT isn't doing traditional wagon business. It targets buyers who find SUVs boring, sedans too cramped, and pure EVs plagued by range anxiety.

These buyers don't need a pure European wagon; they need a car for daily commuting, weekend camping, and the occasional mountain run.

Of course, risks remain. Wagons in China have never been a category easily moved by product specs alone; shifting cultural perception and consumer habits takes time.

The 07 GT's pre-sale price is aggressive, but the 165,800 to 185,800 yuan band is also the most brutally competitive arena, with BYD, XPENG, and ZEEKR all heavily invested. Standard LiDAR and MRC suspension are key differentiators, but whether these specs translate into sustained sales will depend on market performance after the official launch in July.
