Since establishing a presence in the Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone in 2021, CALB's Wuhan base has hit the fast-forward button on construction. It rapidly achieved full production and efficiency, filling a critical void in the city’s new energy vehicle power battery chain while driving the integration and collaborative upgrade of the local supply chain.
Currently, the first three phases at the CALB Wuhan base have been completed and put into operation, establishing a core capacity of 40 GWh for power and energy storage batteries annually. The products stably support mainstream new energy models like those from Dongfeng Passenger Vehicle, reflecting robust production and sales. Meanwhile, the base's Phase IV project is accelerating, promising to further expand capacity and refine the industrial layout.
The report indicates that Phase IV focuses on the intelligent production of power battery pack systems. It plans to build six new high-standard intelligent production lines with a designed annual capacity of about 400,000 units, which will significantly boost local battery pack supply capabilities upon completion. Launched in July 2025, the project has progressed efficiently over the past few months and has now entered the critical stage of equipment installation and commissioning. Work is proceeding in an orderly manner, with formal production expected within 2026.
As the "heart" of a new energy vehicle, the power battery pack directly assumes the critical functions of energy storage, conversion, and safety management. Its quality and capacity directly impact the core competitiveness of new energy vehicles. CALB stated that upon completion of the Phase IV project, more "Wuhan-made" new energy vehicles will utilize locally manufactured advanced battery packs, further strengthening the autonomous supporting capabilities of the supply chain.
