Supported by CATL, BAIC Group, Beijing Energy Holding, and Xiaomi, CATL-BAIC follows "Lighthouse + Zero Carbon" design standards. The facility uses CATL's latest proprietary advanced production line, integrated with 5G, AI, and digital twin technologies. With 6,800 quality control points, the plant targets a defect rate in the parts-per-billion range and a production speed of one cell per second. The factory also targets "zero-carbon" operations via waste heat recovery, on-site photovoltaic storage, and green energy certificate purchases.
Construction is nearing completion, with equipment on the second production line undergoing commissioning. Commercial operation is scheduled for August 2026. The plant is expected to produce 7.5 GWh of cells that year. Once fully operational, annual capacity will reach 15 GWh, significantly enhancing product competitiveness and cost advantages for BAIC, Xiaomi, and other automakers in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
CATL-BAIC stated the project marks a milestone in Beijing's new-energy vehicle industrialization. By leveraging industrial clustering, the facility is expected to attract more upstream and downstream partners, strengthening the local supply chain ecosystem. It also aims to create value for developing "new quality productive forces" and driving green economic growth.
