The partnership reflects growing efforts to accelerate renewable energy deployment and energy transition initiatives across China's high-altitude regions.

Under the agreement, the two sides will focus their cooperation on three key areas tied to zero-carbon infrastructure, integrated energy systems, and transportation electrification.

The first initiative centers on the development of zero-carbon demonstration construction sites. The projects will integrate technologies including photovoltaic power generation and battery-based energy storage systems to reduce carbon emissions throughout the entire construction process, with the goal of establishing a benchmark for green construction practices in plateau environments.

A second area of cooperation will focus on integrated “ electricity generation-grid-load-energy storage” energy systems, including coordinated hydro, wind, solar, and energy storage dispatch projects as well as intelligent microgrid development.

CATL will supply high-safety, long-life battery cells and energy storage system components designed specifically for high-altitude operating conditions. The technologies are expected to support grid balancing, peak-load regulation, and distributed energy applications across the region.

The third pillar of the partnership targets the electrification of transportation and industrial equipment. The companies plan to promote battery solutions for new energy heavy-duty trucks and construction machinery while improving low-temperature battery performance and fast-charging capabilities for plateau environments.

The two sides also intend to jointly build charging and battery-swapping infrastructure networks in high-energy-consumption areas such as mining zones and logistics hubs. In addition, they will explore commercial models based on vehicle-battery separation and battery banking services.

According to the companies, the cooperation is expected to accelerate local clean energy development, stimulate investment across related industrial supply chains, and strengthen the stability of plateau power grids while supporting regional industrial upgrading.
