Gasgoo Munich- CATL recently signed strategic cooperation agreements with Xi'an Taijin New Energy & Materials Sci-Tech Co., Ltd. ("TJNE"), Shenzhen Huike New Materials Co., Ltd. and other companies. The agreements establish long-term cooperation covering centralized procurement of copper foil equipment, joint capacity development, cost-based pricing, collaborative R&D and the shared use of renewable electricity.

The partnerships introduce a new model of cooperation across the lithium-ion battery copper foil supply chain.
On the equipment side, CATL and TJNE will establish unified coordination, technical standards and centralized procurement management. TJNE will provide standardized, large-scale equipment deliveries for new and expansion projects, with the aim of reducing system-wide equipment costs and supporting further technology upgrades.
On the supply side, CATL plans to work with two partners, including Shenzhen Huike, to develop 400,000 tonnes of new production capacity over the next three years. The companies will adopt a pricing model based on production costs, reasonable margins and shared risk, while establishing mechanisms to secure long-term supply volumes and processing fees for the new capacity. CATL will also provide financial support through advance payments and optimized payment terms.
The agreements shift the relationship beyond conventional buyer-supplier transactions toward joint investment and coordination. Through closer cooperation on pricing and capacity, CATL aims to build a more resilient and mutually beneficial copper foil supply chain.
