Gasgoo Munich- On Sept. 17, China Automotive New Energy Battery Technology Co., Ltd. has signed a technical cooperation agreement with Leapmotor. Qiu Xiandong, chairman and Party committee secretary of FAW Group, and Zhu Jiangming, founder, chairman, and CEO of Leapmotor, attended the event to witness the signing, joined by other company executives.

Just recently (Aug. 24), FAW Group and Leapmotor signed a strategic cooperation agreement, aiming to leverage strategic mutual trust and strengthen technical collaboration to tackle next-generation battery technologies.
Under the technical cooperation agreement signed between China Automotive New Energy and Leapmotor, the two parties will jointly drive the development of forward-looking battery technologies and the rollout of standardized cells. Their R&D collaboration will focus on frontier areas such as solid-state batteries, lithium-rich manganese-based batteries, sodium-ion batteries, and LFP ultra-fast charging. They will also jointly promote the targeted development and application of standardized cells, and on this basis, explore battery recycling and overseas supply chain synergy.
China Automotive New Energy stated that this agreement marks a fresh starting point. Leveraging its strengths in industrial resource integration, accumulated expertise in high-end manufacturing, and standard system construction, the company will partner with Leapmotor to deepen capital ties and joint R&D. The goal is to aggressively advance breakthroughs in cutting-edge technologies—solid-state, lithium-rich manganese-based, sodium-ion, and LFP ultra-fast charging—alongside the rollout of standardized cells and overseas supply chain alignment. By efficiently pooling resources to master core technologies, the duo aims to solidify the industrial ecosystem and inject fresh momentum into the high-quality development of China's new energy vehicle industry.
