Here are the detailed rankings and sales figures from the Gasgoo Institute "2025 Passenger Vehicle Group Sales Ranking":

First place: BYD Auto, with full-year sales of 4,545,423 units.

Second place: Geely Holding Group, with full-year sales of 3,373,577 units.

Third place: Chery Holding, with full-year sales of 2,699,544 units.

Fourth place: Volkswagen Group, with full-year sales of 2,580,866 units.

Fifth place: Changan Automobile, with full-year sales of 1,823,322 units.

Sixth place: Toyota Motor, with full-year sales of 1,559,821 units.

Seventh place: SAIC-GM-Wuling, with full-year sales of 1,316,655 units.

Eighth place: Great Wall Motor, with full-year sales of 1,141,509 units.

Ninth place: SAIC Motor, with full-year sales of 1,000,319 units.

Tenth place: Tesla, with full-year sales of 851,732 units.

BYD claimed the top spot with sales exceeding 4.54 million units, driven by an explosive surge in new-energy models and sustained overseas expansion. Geely Holding and Chery Holding followed closely, breaching 3.37 million and 2.69 million units respectively. The domestic "Big Three" have once again swept the podium, underscoring a trend where market resources increasingly concentrate on industry leaders. Leveraging synergistic multi-brand matrices and a steady transition to new energy, both groups have firmly defended their market share, demonstrating robust resilience.

Mid-tier domestic groups like Changan Automobile (over 1.82 million units) and Great Wall Motor (over 1.14 million units) delivered relatively steady performance in 2025, though their growth lagged behind the top-tier players. As competition intensifies around high-end new-energy vehicles and intelligent technology, these groups face mounting pressure to accelerate breakthroughs in core technologies and roll out premium product lineups. Boosting brand premium and market competitiveness is now essential to securing their standing.

Volkswagen Group and Toyota Motor, representing the joint-venture camp, sold more than 2.58 million and 1.55 million units respectively. The gap between these incumbents and the domestic leaders remains stark. Meanwhile, SAIC-GM-Wuling surpassed 1.31 million units, marking significant growth.

Among foreign brands, Tesla cracked the top ten with over 850,000 units sold, standing out as a leading representative of foreign new-energy contenders. Bolstered by brand influence, intelligent product experiences, and cost advantages from a scaled supply chain, Tesla's market penetration continues to strengthen. This reflects a gradual recovery in competitiveness among foreign new forces in niche segments, introducing a fresh variable to the new-energy market landscape.
