Gasgoo Munich- FAW-Volkswagen released the debut-month sales report for the ID. AURA T6, revealing 33,022 locked orders. The LiDAR-equipped advanced smart-driving version accounted for over 90% of the total.
The ID. AURA T6 is a smart all-electric family SUV, built on FAW-Volkswagen’s new CEA electronic architecture. Launched on Sept. 20, it offers a CLTC range of up to 660 km.

On the smart-driving front, the ID. AURA T6’s Xingyun Zhixing system debuts the Horizon Journey 6H assisted-driving chip. Powered by Horizon’s HSD AI foundation model, it runs CoreRover’s single-stack end-to-end HS8 driving-assist solution. Paired with a 192-line high-performance LiDAR and multiple other sensors, the setup delivers 720-degree all-around environmental perception.
The ID. AURA T6’s market reception is being closely watched as a bellwether for joint-venture brands shifting to new energy. Lately, foreign joint ventures like Volkswagen, Toyota, and Honda have struggled to meet expectations for their EVs in China, lagging behind domestic rivals on smart features and value for money at similar price points.
By adding LiDAR and upgrading its smart features, the ID. AURA T6 aims to close that gap. The 30,000-plus locked orders in its debut month suggest the strategy is starting to pay off.
Locked orders, however, are not final deliveries. The focus now shifts to the ID. AURA T6’s actual delivery pace and retail sales performance.
For joint-venture EVs to truly break out, smarter tech alone is not enough. They must also sustain momentum in core EV technology, cost control, product definition, and user engagement.
