Gasgoo Munich- On Oct. 15, the 300,000th battery pack rolled off the line at Inpow Battery, GAC's in-house battery unit.
Serving as the industrialization arm for GAC’s self-developed batteries, Inpow ranks among China’s earliest independent power-battery developers. It is also a rarity in the sector: an automaker-backed firm that has truly achieved full-stack, in-house development and production — from cell to pack.
Xu Junhai, general manager of Inpow Battery, said the company has stayed focused on building highly competitive products and delivering customer value since its first pack rolled off the line. By iterating on GAC's Magazine Battery safety technology, Inpow applies over two decades of the automaker's automotive-grade manufacturing standards. These standards cover the entire R&D, production, and validation cycle, ensuring uncompromising safety.

As the industrialization arm for GAC’s in-house batteries, Inpow works in lockstep with the Aion and Hyper brands — from product definition and R&D validation through to mass production. This deep integration ensures battery performance and safety are precisely matched with vehicle chassis, electronic controls, and thermal management, giving drivers a true factory-calibrated experience.
Looking ahead, Inpow plans to deepen its in-house R&D, upgrade its smart manufacturing systems, and tighten coordination with automaker partners. The goal: repay market trust with more reliable products and steadier deliveries, helping to drive China’s new-energy industry toward higher-quality growth.
Feng Yu, vice president of GAC’s Hyper and Aion business unit, noted that GAC was among the first automakers to launch independent power-battery R&D. The journey spans from battery-system and BMS development in 2011 to cell R&D and test-line construction in 2017. Later milestones include Magazine Battery 1.0 safety tech in 2021, a cell pilot line in 2022, and the Inpow factory's completion in 2023. Over more than a decade, GAC has closed the loop on full-stack, in-house development and production — from materials and cells to packs. Having validated its technology at a scale of 300,000 units, it stands as a rare automaker with fully autonomous control across every link of the battery chain.
Inpow’s batteries now integrate rapidly across Aion’s product matrix, powering mainstream models including the Aion i60, Aion N60, and Aion UT.
