Gasgoo Munich- On the evening of April 16, Leapmotor officially launched its new flagship SUV, the D19. Official guide prices range from 219,800 to 269,800 yuan, with deliveries commencing immediately upon launch.

At the launch event, Leapmotor executives described the D19 as the culmination of a decade of technical expertise and supply chain integration, built on the brand's new LEAP 4.0 architecture and flagship D platform. The car targets families looking to upgrade or replace their current vehicles, aiming to deliver a flagship experience with no compromises. Blind order data indicates that over 90% of reservations come from such buyers, with more than 40% switching from luxury brands.
On the hardware front, the D19 leans heavily on premium supply chain partners. It features Konghui air suspension, Michelin low-noise tires, Fuyao double-layer acoustic glass, and semi-aniline leather interiors, alongside a 9,200-ton integrated aluminum die-cast floor. The body features a torsional stiffness of 50,500 Nm/deg, while the chassis employs front double-wishbone and rear five-link independent suspension. Paired with air suspension and CDC dampers, the setup balances sharp handling with ride comfort.

On the intelligent front, the D19 is powered by dual Qualcomm 8797 chips delivering 1,280 TOPS of computing power. Leveraging a VLA large model for advanced autonomous driving, every trim comes standard with LiDAR. Features include door-to-door navigation across all scenarios, cross-floor memory parking, and path-based reversing for up to 120 meters. The company has also pledged free, ongoing algorithm upgrades for LiDAR-equipped models.
Regarding power and endurance, the extended-range version packs an 80.3 kWh battery offering 500 km of CLTC pure electric range — a top-tier figure for hybrids. The pure electric version utilizes 115 kWh CATL cells for a maximum CLTC range of 720 km, supporting 800V to 1,000V high-speed charging that replenishes significant range in just 15 minutes. A tri-motor performance variant delivers peak power of 540 kW, sprinting from zero to 100 km/h in 3.94 seconds to meet high-performance requirements.

The vehicle includes comprehensive comfort and safety features. The D19 offers six- or seven-seat layouts, second-row zero-gravity seats, an on-board oxygen system, a 23-speaker Dolby Atmos sound system, and an electric cooler/warmer. For safety, it includes nine airbags and a loop-shaped five-layer rigid body structure. The battery has undergone over 1,000 tests, with the first owner enjoying a lifetime free warranty.
To mark the launch, Leapmotor introduced a suite of purchasing incentives, including chip upgrades, option credits, trade-in subsidies for existing owners, financing subsidies, and various lifetime free services. The limited-time benefits are valued at over 50,000 yuan. The event also named Fei Xiang as the ambassador for the D series and the D19's first global owner.

Industry analysts view the D19 as a strategy to disrupt the 200,000 to 300,000 yuan flagship SUV market using a high-specification, low-price strategy. By leveraging full-stack in-house R&D and top-tier supply chains, Leapmotor aims to break the premium pricing structure of traditional luxury brands. As deliveries begin, the vehicle's market performance is set to directly reshape the competitive landscape of domestic mid-to-large new energy SUVs.
