Gasgoo Munich-Leapmotor's new C16 officially launched on June 16, 2026. Positioned as a versatile, comfortable mid-to-large SUV, it comes in five- and six-seater configurations with both battery-electric and range-extended powertrain options. The official guide price ranges from 145,800 to 169,800 yuan.

As the flagship model of the C-series' two-year evolution, the new C16 leverages Leapmotor's decade of full-stack in-house R&D and self-built production capacity for 17 major components to bring luxury features typically found in the 300,000-yuan class down to the sub-200,000-yuan market. With global cumulative sales of the C-series surpassing 800,000 units, the launch of this vehicle is seen as another strategic move by the brand to deepen its presence in the family SUV sector.

To cater to different family structures, the new C16 offers differentiated cabin solutions:
The six-seater features a 2+2+2 layout, with second-row independent sliding seats unique to its class. These can slide inward by 70mm at the touch of a button to create a "cuddle mode" bringing family members closer, or outward by 190mm to widen the central aisle for easier access to the third row. The second-row seatbacks recline up to 155 degrees and come standard with ventilation, heating, and massage functions. Space in the third row has also been specifically optimized, addressing the common industry complaint of cramped "third-row benches."
The five-seater targets outdoor scenarios, featuring an industry-first one-touch bed function that links the second-row seats. In just three seconds, it transforms into a 2-meter fully flat bed, suitable for overnight camping or in-car naps. The trunk offers a standard volume of 582 liters, expandable to 2,077 liters with the rear seats folded, easily accommodating large gear like skis or camping equipment.

In terms of cabin features, the new car comes standard with dual zero-gravity seats in the front row and is equipped with the Leap Sound 23-speaker PSS high-fidelity audio system supporting Dolby Atmos. The addition of comfort amenities such as a 7.5-liter vehicle refrigerator and a 17.3-inch rear entertainment screen further reinforces its family-oriented character.
Intelligence is a core upgrade for the new C16. The cockpit runs on a 5nm Qualcomm Snapdragon SA8295P chip, while the intelligent driving system utilizes a 4nm Qualcomm SA8650 chip. The vehicle is equipped with 28 sets of high-precision sensing hardware, including a 300-meter ultra-long-range LiDAR, enabling free, end-to-end navigation assistance.
Regarding range and charging, the pure electric version comes standard with an 800V silicon carbide high-voltage platform, boasting a peak fast-charging power of 250kW. A 30% to 80% charge takes just 16 minutes, with a CLTC comprehensive range of 630 km. The range-extended version offers a CLTC pure electric range of 280 km and a comprehensive range of 1,230 km, with low-charge fuel consumption as low as 5.26 L.
The chassis features front MacPherson and rear five-link independent suspension, with FSD continuously variable damping shock absorbers standard across the lineup. The braking distance from 100 km/h is 35.1 meters. It also utilizes Leapmotor's self-developed LMC integrated motion fusion control system, offering extreme safety capabilities such as high-speed blowout stability.
On passive safety, the new car adopts a nine-cross-three-longitudinal cage-style body structure, with 71% high-strength steel-aluminum hybrid material. The design of the rear floor reinforcement beams has been strengthened specifically for the six-seater model. Regarding battery safety, the CTC 2.0 Plus integrated architecture ensures no fire or explosion occurs for 48 hours after thermal runaway.
