Li Auto to unveil AI strategy in mid-June

Edited by Aya From Gasgoo

Gasgoo Munich- On June 11, Li Auto CEO Li Xiang took to social media to push back against critics who argue the automaker is losing focus on carmaking by obsessing over artificial intelligence and embodied intelligence. Li Xiang countered that the company's long-term focus is clear: figuring out how AI enters the physical world and delivers real value to users.

To address these doubts, Li Auto will host its "Livis Day" software and AI launch on June 15 at 16:30. The event will mark the first time the company systematically outlines the standards for qualified embodied intelligence, its value to users, and when they can expect to experience it. Li Xiang emphasized that the presentation will demonstrate just how focused Li Auto truly is on its core mission.

In Li Xiang's view, embodied intelligence built into a vehicle could well be the first AI robot to enter the physical world. That positioning is already taking shape in actual products. The new Li Auto L9 Livis hit the market last month priced at 509,800 yuan, equipped with the in-house Mach M100 chip. Built on a 5nm automotive-grade process, the chip delivers 1,280 TOPS of single-chip computing power and is billed as the first edge inference chip using a data flow architecture.

Beyond hardware, Li Auto has been cultivating its AI capabilities for years. In May 2025, the company officially released its VLA driver large model, pushing autonomous driving beyond rule-based algorithms toward "human intelligence." That year, R&D spending reached 11.3 billion yuan, with roughly half allocated to AI-related fields. According to public information, Li Auto has now established embodied intelligence as its core brand positioning and is planning humanoid robot products beyond its automotive lineup.
