Gasgoo Munich- On the evening of September 7, Xiaomi EV launched its new extended-range product line, the "SkyNomad." Debuting the N70 and N90 series with four models total, pricing ranges from 209,900 to 299,900 yuan. This marks Xiaomi's third product line following the SU7 and YU7, shifting its positioning from "Smart × Driving" to "Smart × Space."
The four models span three distinct segments: the N70 Pro (209,900 yuan) and N70 Max (239,900 yuan) target the large five-seat EREV SUV market. The N90 Max (269,900 yuan, a 30,000-yuan cut from the pre-sale price) aims at the large seven-seat flagship sector. The top-tier N90 Max Explorer Edition (299,900 yuan) features a native electric retractable roof, which the company calls a "movable personal space."
N70: Flat Floor + Ultra-Long Rails, Prioritizing Space for People
Measuring 4,960mm in length with a 2,950mm wheelbase, the N70 is built on Xiaomi's Kunlun platform. Its core design philosophy treats space as "the starting point of product development, not a byproduct of structural compromise." Standard across the line is a flat floor; the angle from the first and second rows to the trunk floor is just 2.95°, offering 4.01㎡ of flat area. It features five ultra-long sliding rails—the longest stretching 1.56 meters—allowing the second-row seats to slide up to 600mm.

With the second-row seats fully rearward, legroom hits 1,410mm—officially described as "rivaling the Cullinan." Standard trunk capacity is 1,203L, expanding to 2,425L with the second row folded. The rear doors open nearly 90 degrees, and with a 385mm ground clearance paired with electric welcome steps, entry and exit are easier for the elderly and children.
On power, the N70 Pro uses a 52kWh LFP battery, delivering a CLTC pure-electric range of 351km and a comprehensive range of 1,351km, with a 0-100km/h time of 7.9 seconds. The N70 Max packs a 76kWh NCM battery and dual-motor all-wheel drive, accelerating from 0-100km/h in 5.5 seconds. It offers a CLTC EV range of 505km and a total range of 1,461km, with 20%-80% fast charging taking just 18 minutes.
The entire line uses the Xiaomi Kunlun 1.5T range extender. The N70 Pro returns 5.7L/100km in fuel consumption when the battery is low and runs on 92-octane gasoline. Maintenance is required only once every three years or 30,000 kilometers after the first service.
For handling, the N70 features double-wishbone independent front suspension and an H-arm multi-link rear setup. The N70 Max comes standard with air springs and continuous variable damping control. The minimum turning radius is 5.67 meters, and the braking distance from 100-0km/h is 38.25 meters.
N90 Max: 5.28-Meter Large Seven-Seater, a "Land Business Class" for Business and Family
The N90 Max stretches 5,285mm long with a 3,080mm wheelbase, laid out in a 2+2+3 configuration. Officially positioned as a "new generation land business class," it offers optional swivel front seats with tabletops for business scenarios, instantly turning the cabin into a reception room or mobile office. For families, even with seven passengers aboard, there's room for seven 20-inch suitcases. Second-row legroom is 950mm, while third-row legroom is 890mm with 962mm of headroom.
The N90 Max is powered by a 76kWh NCM battery. Dual-motor AWD propels it from 0-100km/h in 5.9 seconds, with a CLTC EV range of 464km and a total range of 1,705km. In official real-world testing, it covered the 1,230km Beijing-Shanghai highway on a full tank and charge with 54km to spare. The chassis comes standard with air springs and continuous variable damping control, equipped with a rear-facing solid-state LiDAR to boost parking success in complex scenarios.
N90 Max Explorer Edition: Native Retractable Roof, a Mobile Loft
The Explorer Edition is the highlight of this launch. Based on the N90 Max, its defining feature is a native electric retractable roof. When raised, the cabin transforms into a two-story loft space with a headroom of 2,294mm. The upper level measures 2,110×985mm and supports up to 200kg, equipped with air vents, charging ports, and magnetic mounts. Xiaomi emphasizes that because this is a native design, the roof module does not need removal for annual vehicle inspections. The lifting function is restricted to parking scenarios on non-public roads.
The interior is redesigned as a large five-seat layout. The second-row seats can convert into a bed at the touch of a button—no disassembly required—creating a flat 1.87×1.24m bed in 30 seconds, complete with standard ventilation and heating. The second row uses a 60/40 split, allowing one side to form a bed while the other becomes a living area with an added rail-mounted tabletop.
Inside, there's 1.7㎡ of native wood-grain aluminum flooring with integrated three-level heating (up to 38℃). An optional 30-inch giant-screen projection system offers a viewing distance of up to 1,096mm. Additional features include a floating bedside table, a 20L built-in wall cabinet, and an 11.5-inch vanity mirror. Xiaomi describes it as a "mobile studio for creative professionals" and a "mobile camp for camping enthusiasts."

Standard Across the Line: Fully Loaded Intelligence + Fully Loaded Safety
On intelligence, the SkyNomad series comes standard with Qualcomm's third-generation Snapdragon 8 cockpit chip, Nvidia Thor-U assisted driving chip (700 TOPS), LiDAR, 4D millimeter-wave radar, and Xiaomi's HAD assisted driving system—plus, HAD features are free for life. The infotainment runs Xiaomi HyperOS, with the N70 supporting five-screen linkage and the N90 Max supporting six-screen interconnection, fully integrating both Xiaomi and Apple ecosystems. The "Super Xiao Ai" voice assistant covers 95% of vehicle controls, capable of switching between over a dozen spatial layout modes with a single command.
Regarding safety, the entire line uses an "Armor Cage" steel-aluminum hybrid body, with high-strength steel and aluminum alloy accounting for 91.3% of the structure. It applies 2,200MPa ultra-strong steel in 14 locations on the N70 and 16 on the N90, equipped with built-in roll cages and one-piece hot-formed door rings.
The N70 comes standard with 9 airbags, while the N90 standardizes on 12. Additionally, Xiaomi's Dragon Armor battery offers an 8-year or 160,000-kilometer warranty. The company has also launched a "Peace of Mind Guarantee" plan: if a spontaneous combustion occurs due to original battery quality issues, a new car of equivalent configuration will be compensated; if a battery fire results from a collision scraping the chassis, the difference between insurance payout and the full value will be compensated.

Xiaomi's decision to launch the SkyNomad series during a downturn in the extended-range market is itself a signal worth watching. The core reason for the EREV market's decline is the improved range of pure electric vehicles and the spread of fast-charging networks; as consumer range anxiety eases, the core selling point of EREVs—"anxiety-free driving"—is being diluted. Meanwhile, the mainstream 150,000-250,000 yuan EREV market has been hit hardest by price cuts on pure EVs, yet the market for large family SUVs above 250,000 yuan retains some resilience—precisely the pricing bracket Xiaomi SkyNomad targets.
Xiaomi's logic for entering now likely rests on three factors: first, while the EREV market is slipping, there is still room in the large SUV segment above 250,000 yuan, and Xiaomi aims to seize share with a "full specs + low price" strategy; second, extended-range technology suits large SUVs better, as pure electrics still face range and charging pain points at this level; and third, Xiaomi needs to complete its product matrix, and EREV is a necessary supplement to cover family users.
But the challenges are equally obvious. The EREV market is contracting overall, and leading brands like Li Auto and AITO have already captured the lion's share. As a latecomer, Xiaomi needs to break this established pattern with product strength and pricing. The N90 Max Explorer Edition's retractable roof concept is novel, but its target user base is relatively niche—whether it can become a volume driver remains to be seen.
