Gasgoo Munich- Xiaomi EV has unveiled the powertrain specifications for its Skynomad series. Equipped with the in-house Xiaomi Kunlun range extender, the system is engineered specifically to minimize long-term operating and maintenance expenses.
A key selling point is fuel flexibility. The entire lineup accommodates 92, 95, and 98 octane gasoline, meaning owners aren't locked into premium fuel. This flexibility offers more options during long-distance travel and directly cuts daily fuel expenses.
On the efficiency front, the Skynomad series achieves a WLTC fuel consumption as low as 5.7 liters per 100 kilometers when the battery is depleted. That figure is competitive for a mid-to-large range-extender SUV targeting family buyers.

Xiaomi is also offering robust warranty coverage. The range extender and the entire electric propulsion system come with an 8-year or 160,000-kilometer factory warranty, addressing concerns about long-term reliability. Maintenance schedules, meanwhile, diverge from many rivals: after the initial service, intervals extend to three years or 30,000 kilometers of range-extender operation, whichever comes first.
With the Skynomad series details emerging, Xiaomi has solidified its dual-strategy of electric and range-extender vehicles. The SU7 has already established a foothold in the 200,000-yuan pure-electric sedan segment, and the Skynomad series is now set to enter the fiercely competitive family SUV arena. Beyond product specs, running costs and after-sales support have become decisive factors for consumers in this crowded market.
Full specifications and pricing for the Skynomad series have yet to be revealed, with Xiaomi scheduled to hold its Kunlun technology architecture launch on July 30. How this low-cost range-extender system performs will ultimately determine the Skynomad series' potential in its segment.
