In New Zealand, the X9 has led pure-electric MPV registrations for three straight months. In Australia, it has topped sales among Chinese-branded pure-electric MPVs for two consecutive months. The figures come from new-vehicle registration data by New Zealand's Motor Industry Association (MIA) and sales data by Australia's Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI).
XPENG is accelerating its expansion across the Australia-New Zealand market. In March 2026, the automaker officially launched the 2026 XPENG X9 pure-electric variant, rolling out five trims priced from 309,800 CNY to 369,800 CNY. The lineup comes standard with 5C ultra-fast charging and offers a maximum CLTC range of 750 km.
Notably, XPENG's retail network in Australia has undergone a recent overhaul. The automaker terminated the exclusive distribution rights of its former partner, TrueEV, after the dealer entered administration following a capital chain rupture. XPENG has since established a regional subsidiary to run local distribution directly and is now recruiting new dealers across five major states, including Queensland, Victoria, and New South Wales.
