Beijing (Gasgoo)- On May 19, Baidu Apollo and Chinese telecommunication giant China Mobile announced their joint innovation project, "5G+BeiDou+V2X" intelligent transportation.

The collaboration aims to create comprehensive cooperation that utilizes the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System, enabling high-precision positioning services with 5G+BeiDou technologies for users, while powering intelligent vehicles and smart roads through 5G+V2X combination, therefore ultimately boosting the development of autonomous driving and C-V2X applications.
Leveraging Baidu's high-precision maps and China Mobile's 5G+BeiDou high-precision positioning system, the former’s navigation application, Baidu Maps, is able to achieve a daily call volume exceeding 500 billion times. It has overcome extreme navigation scenarios such as tunnels, underground/indoor areas, and urban road lanes, serving billions of mobile users and 2.5 million industry developers.
In the field of 5G+BeiDou high-precision positioning, the two companies will jointly build applications for lane-level navigation, integration of indoor and outdoor positioning capabilities, and an open platform for 5G+BeiDou positioning. The duo will also establish a BeiDou high-precision positioning open platform, empowering various industries with thousands of applications.
Focusing on projects related to smart cities and demonstration areas for C-V2X technologies, Baidu Apollo and China Mobile will jointly create an integrated "5G+V2X" network solution. They will promote the application of "5G+BeiDou high-precision+V2X" in autonomous driving, conduct joint rights operations, and enable large-scale promotion across various industries.
