Gasgoo Munich- CaoCao Mobility announced on July 27 that it has officially launched testing for its Robotaxis without a human safety driver behind the wheel. Conducted on real urban roads in Hangzhou’s Binjiang District, the trials use a station-based dispatching mechanism designed to verify the stability and reliability of driverless operations under controlled, small-scale conditions.

According to the company, all test vehicles are now fully integrated into the "CaoCao Smart RAS Remote Safety Service Platform." Serving as the cloud-based safety and operations hub for the Robotaxi business, the platform manages continuous safety monitoring, emergency response, real-time remote assistance, and anomaly handling — providing the technical backbone for driverless operations.

In April, CaoCao Mobility became the first company in Hangzhou approved to conduct road tests for intelligent connected vehicles without safety operators. The company currently operates a fleet of roughly 100 Robotaxis in the city. Additionally, what it claims is the world’s first "Green Smart Mobility Island" is now operational in Hangzhou, offering automated battery swapping, cleaning, and vehicle preparation to support the fleet.

As the primary commercialization vehicle for Geely Holding Group’s Robox strategy, CaoCao Mobility is advancing its autonomous driving services through a "smart custom vehicle + smart driving technology + smart operation" model. The company is currently proceeding as planned with the transition from human safety drivers to fully driverless operations. It has also unveiled "EvaCab," China’s first natively developed Robotaxi, which it helped define and engineer. Slated for mass production in 2027, the vehicle aims to drive broader commercialization using a purpose-built platform.

Looking ahead, CaoCao Mobility plans to expand Robotaxi testing and verification across more cities and complex scenarios, refining its autonomous driving technology, safety systems, and operational capabilities. Leveraging its large-scale mobility network and operational experience, the company aims to shift Robotaxis from technical validation to commercial deployment, using the Robox strategy to explore the integration of intelligent driving technology with the mobility service ecosystem.
