With smart driving struggling to cover a vast array of long-tail road conditions, occupant protection failing in reclined seating positions, and internet connectivity inviting cyberattacks, new safety hazards are piling up. Safety must be a non-negotiable bottom line for new energy vehicle makers.
A commitment to quality is woven into Geely's history. In its early days, founder Li Shufu ordered the mass destruction of substandard vehicles, establishing a principle of never compromising quality for the market. Following the strategic shift marked by the Ningbo Declaration, Geely elevated safety to a core corporate strategy, building a layered quality management system where safety specifications hold veto power during model development.

To meet the fresh challenges of smart vehicles, Geely is widening its safety perimeter. The automaker has constructed nine major safety systems spanning four domains—life, health, property, and privacy—covering active, passive, new energy, digital, and ecological scenarios. On the hardware front, it has developed a Star-Armor cage body and battery anti-collision structures. In digital security, Geely has deployed quantum security base stations connected to the national quantum backbone network. Leveraging its low-orbit satellite layout, the company enables ecological capabilities like road risk warnings and mutual aid search and rescue.
Geely has poured over 2 billion yuan into a Global All-Domain Safety Center, equipped with full suites for collision testing, simulation, and connected security validation. The company holds 156,000 related patents and has opened up its patents for hidden door handles and under-vehicle battery collision protection to the industry, helping to raise the sector's overall safety standards.
Looking ahead, Geely aims for zero fatalities, zero health hazards, and zero privacy breaches. Its approach to safety is shifting from protecting individual vehicles to collaborating with the government, insurers, and industry organizations to build a fully coordinated, intelligent traffic safety ecosystem.
