Hesai Technology, JD.com deepen cooperation on physical AI applications

Gasgoo Munich- Physical AI infrastructure company Hesai Technology announced on September 15 a new strategic partnership with JD.com. The companies will explore physical AI applications across a range of scenarios, using high-precision 3D perception technologies such as 6D full-color LiDAR to support JD.com's autonomous delivery vehicles, robots and other operations.

At the recent JDDiscovery 2026 conference, JD.com presented its latest physical AI initiatives and plans to build what it calls the world's largest physical-world operations center. The initiatives include a computing cluster comprising 100,000 domestically developed accelerators, the collection of 10 million hours of embodied AI data and the launch of the JoyAI family of world models. JD.com also unveiled several logistics robots and technologies in its "Wolf" series ("LongZuTech"), including the "Mother Wolf,""Warehouse Wolf" and a low-temperature version of the "Intelligent Wolf." The Plus version of its sixth-generation "Lone Wolf" intelligent delivery vehicle, designed for scaled Level 4 autonomous operation, uses Hesai's AT-series LiDAR to provide high-precision 3D perception on urban roads and in complex environments shared by vehicles and pedestrians.

JD Logistics said it views logistics as one of the most promising areas for robotic applications. The company plans to purchase 3 million robots, 1 million autonomous vehicles and 100,000 drones over the next five years as part of its effort to establish the world's largest embodied robotics fleet and physical-world operations center.

Hesai's Picasso 6D full-color chip platform enables LiDAR systems to capture RGB and depth information natively. According to the company, the technology can reduce the need for synchronization, calibration, registration and 3D annotation required by conventional approaches. It is designed to provide more consistent RGB-D ground-truth data and shorten the process from real-world data collection to model training and iteration.

Built on the Picasso platform, the upgraded Hesai ETX is described by the company as the world's first 6D full-color LiDAR platform with more than 1,000 lines. It offers a maximum detection range of 600 meters and supports up to 4,320 lines. Hesai said the platform's small-object detection capability can help autonomous driving systems identify distant vehicles, pedestrians and road obstacles earlier.

The JT-series LiDAR platform is designed specifically for robotic applications. Hesai says it provides a 360-degree by 189-degree field of view. Its compact design supports concealed installation and close-range detection without blind spots. The JT series will also adopt the Picasso platform, combining color and depth data to provide integrated spatial perception. According to Hesai, the series has already been selected by several major embodied AI companies.

Hesai and JD.com plan to deepen their cooperation by combining Hesai's technical capabilities with JD.com's operational scenarios to deploy physical AI across a broader range of real-world applications.
