Li Auto launches new-gen cockpit platform powered by proprietary OS, Qualcomm's latest chip

Gasgoo Munich- Li Auto used its Livis Day software and embodied intelligence event to introduce a new flagship cockpit platform, highlighting the company's growing focus on software-defined vehicles and in-car intelligence. Built around a design philosophy emphasizing simplicity and intuitive interaction, the new system runs on a proprietary operating system developed in-house, giving Li Auto greater control over software integration and user experience.

Connectivity was a central focus of the new cockpit architecture. The platform supports both Apple CarPlay and Android smartphones compliant with the ICCOA Carlink standard, enabling broad cross-platform compatibility. Li Auto said CarPlay integration extends beyond conventional screen mirroring, allowing navigation information to be displayed directly on the head-up display while enabling drivers to control functions such as music playback through steering-wheel-mounted buttons. The approach is designed to provide a more seamless experience for users across different mobile ecosystems.

Li Auto also placed significant emphasis on in-cabin entertainment. The flagship audio system delivers a peak output of 5,440 watts and features a 9.3.6-channel configuration comprising nine horizontal surround channels, three matrix subwoofers, and six overhead channels. The system creates separate immersive audio zones for front and rear occupants through dedicated 5.2.2 and 7.1.4 sound layouts, enabling multiple spatial-audio sources to be played simultaneously. Supported by 96kHz high-resolution audio processing, the setup is designed to provide consistent sound quality across all three seating rows.

At the hardware level, the cockpit debuts Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8797 Elite automotive platform, making its first appearance in a production vehicle. According to Li Auto, the chipset integrates a 504K CPU task-processing architecture, GPU rendering performance of 8.1 trillion operations per second, and a neural processing unit capable of delivering 320 TOPS of AI computing power. The company said the platform is powerful enough to support advanced on-device AI models, positioning its computing capability beyond that of many current flagship smartphones.

The cockpit's display architecture centers on an ultra-wide panoramic screen featuring a 90Hz refresh rate, 180Hz touch-sampling capability, and display bandwidth reaching 23.5Gbps. Li Auto said the screen adopts an adaptive interface design that expands the driver's primary information area by 1.5 times compared with the company's previous dual-screen configuration. Using real-time eye-tracking technology, the system can identify where occupants are looking and dynamically adjust interface layouts and information presentation, aiming to reduce distraction while improving interaction efficiency.

As competition among Chinese automakers increasingly shifts from hardware specifications to software ecosystems and AI-powered user experiences, Li Auto's latest cockpit platform signals the company's ambition to position intelligent interaction, computing power, and immersive digital experiences at the center of its next-generation vehicle strategy.
