Edited by Aya From Gasgoo

On January 23, China Media Group (CMG) and MagicLab made it official: the robotics firm has been named the strategic partner for intelligent robots at the CMG 2026 Spring Festival Gala.

That same day, MagicLab co-founder Gu Shitao revealed the company is accelerating its IPO timeline, with potential market developments arriving as early as 2026. Gu noted that embodied intelligence remains in the very early stages of commercialization, predicting the sector's battle will ultimately come down to resources, capital, and talent.

Founded in January 2024, MagicLab focuses on the R&D, production, and industrialization of embodied intelligence and general-purpose humanoid robots. The company boasts full-stack, self-developed hardware and software—from joint modules and dexterous hands to reducers and drivers—while holding a competitive edge in motion control, navigation, multimodal perception, and embodied operation algorithms.

Building on that foundation, MagicLab has rolled out a lineup of standout products, including the MagicBot Z1 (small humanoid), MagicDog (quadruped), MagicDog W (wheeled-foot), and MagicBot Gen1 (large humanoid). The MagicBot Z1, launched in July 2025, stands 1.4 meters tall with 50 bionic joints and a 320° range of motion, delivering impressive mobility. Beyond movement, it features intelligent interaction, 360° perception, autonomous navigation, and multimodal dialogue—offering high-value solutions across research, commercial service, industrial operations, and home companionship.

Positioned for "home companionship and leisure entertainment," the MagicDog features 13 degrees of freedom and low-noise, high-torque motor joints—striking a balance between agility and stability.

According to previously released data, MagicLab launched sales in May 2025 and, within six months, secured 500 million yuan in intended contracts and 130 million yuan in signed orders. Overseas business accounts for more than 60% of the total, spanning 27 countries with localized networks established in Japan, South Korea, North America, and the Middle East.
