Seeds | X Square Closes Multiple Major Funding Rounds, Valuation Exceeds 20 Billion

Edited by Greg From Gasgoo

Gasgoo Munich-X Square has completed a series of funding rounds — B+, B++, and C — with all deals closed, according to Gasgoo. The startup’s post-money valuation has exceeded 20 billion yuan, making it the first and only embodied AI company in the Greater Bay Area to cross that threshold.

The list of investors includes prominent institutions. Confirmed backers include over 30 leading entities such as China Mobile, the National Artificial Intelligence Industry Investment Fund, Sequoia China, IDG Capital, Source Code Capital, Fortune Capital, and CICC Capital. The group spans internet giants, industrial capital, and national and regional funds. Notably, Xiaomi’s strategic investment arm has invested for three consecutive rounds.

Just before this round, X Square closed a B round in late April led by Xiaomi’s strategic investment arm and Sequoia China. Earlier in mid-January, the firm secured 1 billion yuan in an A++ round, followed by another infusion worth hundreds of millions in February — a sign of strong investor interest.

As a leading player in embodied robotics, X Square is expanding into home environments. The company has partnered with 58.com to deploy robots powered by its WALL-AS model into actual households, where they work alongside cleaners. This marks the first global instance of robots entering homes to manage complex domestic tasks — and the first large-scale deployment in consumer-facing, real-world settings.

On April 21, X Square expanded its "Robot in the Home" initiative with a new generation of robots featuring WALL-B, its self-developed foundational embodied intelligence model. WALL-B uses a unified world model architecture, integrating vision, language, motion, and physical prediction into a single network trained from scratch. This approach effectively eliminates boundaries and information loss between modules.

These robots have already begun moving into real homes, beginning a "trial period" for embodied intelligence in everyday life.

Separately, X Square has formed a joint venture with Holike called Guangdong Zhimilianbian Robot Co. The partnership leverages Holike’s network of nearly 100,000 home renovation users annually and its nationwide channels, combined with X Square’s self-developed connection technology and full-chain ecosystem, to create a closed-loop solution integrating "high-end customization with AI intelligent robots."

X Square has also built its own data collection factory and developed a complete data pipeline capable of automated, large-scale data gathering, cleaning, labeling, and quality control. Its solution, powered by the proprietary XR Zero G0 device, reduces the cost of data required for model training by 95%.

Underpinning these efforts are X Square’s self-developed Quantum One and Quantum Two robots, which host various models and provide support for both the data factory and real-world deployments.

In a notable coincidence, AI² Robotics announced on the same day that it had recently closed a new funding round worth nearly 5 billion yuan, pushing its post-money valuation above 20 billion yuan. The company also claimed to be the first embodied AI enterprise in the Greater Bay Area to reach that milestone.

The developments highlight the accelerating pace of the embodied AI sector in the Greater Bay Area. Capital is actively seeking top-tier projects, and regional competition is intensifying.

AI² Robotics’s latest round drew a diverse group of investors, including state funds, ministries, Greater Bay Area investors, insurers, brokerages, industrial players, and financial investors. This marks the company’s second major fundraising this year, following a B round in February that exceeded 1 billion yuan.

Founded in April 2023, AI² Robotics focuses on the development, production, and service of productive general-purpose intelligent robots. The firm has adhered to an end-to-end large model paradigm from the start, developing the proprietary Alpha Brain — a full-body embodied large model — and the AlphaBot series designed around it. The AlphaBot line has already seen deployment across multiple sectors.
