Audi Finalizes China Brand Adjustment Plan!

Edited by Taylor From Gasgoo

Gasgoo Munich-multiple sources indicate Audi has essentially finalized a plan to allocate brand resources in China. The move will clearly define responsibilities for SAIC Audi and FAW-Audi, streamlining internal management and easing long-standing operational overlap between the two joint ventures.

Under the roadmap, SAIC Audi will focus on operating the "AUDI" new-energy brand built specifically for the Chinese market. Two locally developed models have already rolled out over the past year, with four more based on an intelligent digital platform currently in development. This lineup aims to close Audi's gap in China's NEV passenger market and sharpen its competitive edge in electrification.

FAW-Audi, meanwhile, will take full control of the classic Audi brand business featuring the four-ring logo. This covers locally produced internal combustion models alongside pure electric vehicles built on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE). FAW-Audi remains the core pillar of Audi's China operations, continuing production of the marque's classic models.

Data puts FAW-Audi sales, including imports, at 570,000 units in 2025.

In the broader market, Audi's total China deliveries for 2025 stood at approximately 620,000 units, down about 5% year-on-year. This brand split uses differentiated positioning to let each joint venture focus on its strengths—reducing internal competition while concentrating resources on traditional luxury fuel vehicles and localized smart EVs, respectively.

To date, Audi has not officially announced the plan publicly, and implementation details remain to be confirmed.
