Shanghai, June 5 (Gasgoo.com) Joining a number of car manufacturers that have announced their plans to develop environment friendly cars, China's Brilliance Auto said that its would be producing and selling hybrid cars within the next three years.
"Our first mild hybrid car - Zunchi hybrid will go on sale right this year, with a strong hybrid and a plug-in hybrid models coming along in the following two years," said Qi Yumin, the board chairman of Brilliance Auto.
Zunchi hybrid is injected with Brilliance's own developed 1.8 T engine and electronic devices. The car is expected to cut fuel consumption by 35%.
Other Chinese brand hybrids, such as Chang'an Jiexun-HEV and Chery A5 hybrid, are also set to go on sale this year. A FAW's Besturn hybrid is to be launched in 2009.
