Gasgoo Munich- Buick held a ceremony in Shanghai on August 26. The event celebrated the delivery of its 2.2 millionth MPV. Buick also launched the "Super Refresh Season" for the GL8 family. At the event, Asian sprinting star Su Bingtian officially became the 2.2 millionth owner of a Buick GL8.

The first Buick GL8 rolled off the assembly line in 1999. It took Buick less than a year to go from the 2 millionth unit produced in September 2024 to the 2.2 millionth delivery. Over 27 years, the GL8 family has amassed over 2.2 million users. Official data shows household users now account for more than 80% of the GL8 family's customer base.
A highlight of the event was the launch of the "Super Refresh Season," which introduced limited-time trade-in offers for the GL8 Lu Zun and Electra Encasa models. The limited trade-in price for the GL8 Lu Zun starts at 284,900 yuan, while the Electra Encasa starts at 384,900 yuan. That represents a cut of up to 55,000 yuan from the official guide price, factoring in a "super expansion fund" and a 10,000 yuan trade-in subsidy.
The new GL8 Lu Shang hit the market on August 13 with a limited introductory price starting at 229,900 yuan. With this addition, Buick's GL8 new-energy family now boasts a complete product matrix spanning the 200,000, 300,000, and 400,000 yuan price brackets.
Targeting the 200,000 yuan household segment, the new GL8 Lu Shang offers a comprehensive range of 1,500 kilometers. The GL8 Lu Zun, aimed at the mid-to-high-end market, features second-row aviation seats and 0-100 km/h acceleration in the 7-second range. The Electra Encasa sits in the 400,000 yuan flagship tier, offering both plug-in hybrid and pure electric powertrain options.
Buick officials stated that every GL8 undergoes rigorous durability testing before launch. Testing covers over 120 driving conditions across two winters and two summers. The total distance reaches 6.5 million kilometers. Batteries based on the Ultium platform have accumulated 5.6 billion kilometers of driving data while maintaining a zero self-ignition record.
