Building on an initial agreement to procure battery cells, CATL will now provide BME with battery pack technology licensing, production equipment, and training services. The factory, fully funded by BME, has a planned annual capacity of 1 GWh and will primarily produce power batteries for heavy commercial vehicles. Once operational, BME will supply local automakers directly.

BME was jointly established by Egyptian commercial vehicle manufacturer MCV and Auto D, an automotive industry solutions provider. According to long-term plans, the facility is expected to expand its capacity to 5 GWh and extend its product range to passenger vehicle battery packs and energy storage systems for solar and wind power.
