Gasgoo Munich- Chery Group’s global cumulative sales have surpassed 20 million units, according to a report by Gasgoo. The Fulwin A9, launched on the same day, will be delivered to a customer as the 20 millionth vehicle. The Fulwin nameplate holds historical significance: it was Chery’s first model and its first export car. Now revitalized as a new energy product line, the Fulwin A9 is positioned as a long-range, intelligent pure electric coupe, reflecting the comprehensive upgrade of Chery’s product lineup and quality system.

Reflecting on 29 years of growth, Chery pursued independent R&D during the 1990s, when the industry widely doubted the viability of self-developed Chinese brands. This strategy proved effective: Chery became the first Chinese automaker to master core technologies for the "three major components" — engine, gearbox, and chassis.
The company crossed the 1 million sales mark in 2007, subsequently surpassing the 2 million, 3 million, and 5 million marks. Today, Chery’s operations span complete vehicles, components, finance, robotics, and intelligent technology, supported by over 400 technical reserves. In the Fortune China 500 list, Chery appeared as a publicly traded company, ranking first in the automotive sector for return on equity.
Globally, Chery sells vehicles in more than 130 countries and regions, with nearly 7 million overseas users accounting for roughly 35% of its total base. In the first half of this year, exports increased 71.5% year-on-year to 943,800 units, achieving new monthly highs for four consecutive months. Europe saw particularly strong growth, with sales increasing over 212% to 174,000 units. In the UK market, Chery ranked among the top brands overall for several months.
Overseas, Chery is advancing an "ecosystem export" strategy. It has partnered with Spain’s EV MOTORS to revive the EBRO brand, creating over 1,000 jobs. The company also announced plans to upgrade its Rosslyn plant in South Africa, retaining all 692 employees while generating nearly 3,000 jobs in the upstream and downstream supply chain. Domestically, Chery’s presence in Wuhu has attracted more than 3,000 suppliers and over 30 Fortune 500 companies to the region.
Beyond business, Chery is participating in environmental initiatives like the IUCN seagrass bed restoration project. As a global partner of UNICEF, the company has committed a total of $12 million in donations. Looking ahead, Chery says it will focus on battery cells and chips, robotaxis and robotics, green energy, and computing power. It is even venturing into controlled nuclear fusion research. The 20 million-unit mark serves as a historic milestone and a new starting point for the company’s next chapter.
