China's auto price follows downward trend
Shanghai, November 16 (Gasgoo.com) According to the monitoring data from 36 large- and medium-size cities nationwide, China’s auto price in October still followed the downward tendency, with a slight decline in both domestically-made and imported vehicles, the National Development and Reform Commission announced.
The statistics from the nation's top economic planner show that the auto price of October saw a 0.3% declines from September’s and a 0.44% drop from a year earlier. Respectively, the price of passenger cars and commercial cars declined 0.18% and 0.61% from a month earlier and 2.42% and 2.21% from a year early, respectively.

BAIC unveils first E-car, launches green-car plant
Shanghai, November 16 (Gasgoo.com) Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Corp (BAIC) has unveiled its first self-developed electric car while launching a new-energy auto company, joining domestic rivals to tap potential demand for clean energy vehicles, Reuters reported today.
The model, known as BE701, is capable of going as far as 200 kilometer per hour when fully charged, with a maximum speed of 160 km/h, Beijing Auto said in a statement on Saturday at the launching ceremony. The carmaker didn't say when to start mass production of BE701.
China probes U.S. rescue plans for auto sector
Shanghai, November 17 (Gasgoo.com) China's Ministry of Commerce said yesterday that it will investigate the U.S. government's financing and rescue plans for the American auto industry, Shanghai Daily reported.
The move is part of China's probe into possible dumping and subsidies on U.S.-made vehicles imported to China, the ministry said. Trade officials will be looking for dumping practices -- selling items, in this case cars, at lower than cost -- and for unfair government subsidies.
Geely will get right to use Volvo licensed technology
Shanghai, November 17 (Gasgoo.com) Ford Motor's Volvo car division will retain the rights for its licensed technologies, and its Chinese bidder Geely will get the right to use them, Reuters reported today, citing a Geely spokesman.
"Geely's proposal is in line with the best interest of Volvo," Yuan Xiaolin told the Shanghai Securities News. Volvo will retain all its manufacturing and research facilities along with its dealership network and its agreements with the labor union, Yuan said.
China, U.S. to cooperate on clean-energy vehicles
Shanghai, November 18 (Gasgoo.com) Chinese President Hu Jintao and visiting U.S. President Barack Obama announced in Beijing yesterday a far-reaching package of measures to strengthen the two nations' cooperation on clean energy. The package focuses on jointly developing and making electric vehicles and other clean cars, Xinhua reported. Its highlights include:
China-U.S. Clean Energy Research Center will be set up with public and private funding of at least $150 million over five years, split evenly between the two countries. Initial research priorities will be building energy efficiency, clean coal including carbon capture and storage, and clean vehicles.
Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen launches C5 at 2nd plant
Shanghai, November 18 (Gasgoo.com) The second plant of Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobile (DPCA) in Wuhan came into operation yesterday, with the Citroen 5 as the first sedan model running off its production line, local media reported.
The joint venture's second plant, with an annual output of 150,000 vehicles, will make Citroen C5 and Peugeot 408 models first, aiming for China's high-end auto market. The company is also mulling introducing the hybrid versions of C-Elysee, Peugeot 307 and C-Quatre next year.
Yang Rong to realize auto-making dreams in Shenyang
Shanghai, November 19 (Gasgoo.com) Automobile parts and environment products maker Far East Golden Resources Group (FERG), which is taken charge of by Yang Rong said its subsidiary Hybrid Kinetic Motors Corporation (HKMC) would invest 10 billion yuan ($1.47 billion) in Shenyang, capital of northeast China’s Liaoning province to produce hybrid vehicle power systems.
According to the agreement that has been signed between HKMC and Shenyang government, the 10 billion yuan will be invested to establish hybrid vehicle power systems with a total capacity of 1 million units, including engines, gear-boxes and electromotors.
Changan Auto, China Mobile to co-develop smart car
Shanghai, November 19 (Gasgoo.com) Changan Auto has signed a strategic cooperation agreement this week with China Mobile, the country's top telecom carrier, to develop a smart vehicle based on 3G wireless technologies, Xinhua News reported.
The smart car will feature a 3G wireless communications package that allows for remote surveillance, control, and management. The "3G car" occupants will be able to use GPS and navigation services, browse the web, stream audio and video, send and receive e-mail, compose documents, and even conduct small-scale video-conferences.
Chery to set up electric car R&D center in Taiwan
Shanghai, November 20 (Gasgoo.com) China's mainland automaker Chery Automobile Co., Ltd. plans to set up an electric vehicle (EV) R&D center in Taiwan. This plan will be announced at the cross-strait auto industry conference next week in Taipei, local media reported.
Chery Auto will locate the R&D center in the scheduled "Green Energy Intelligent Vehicle Innovation Park (EV Park) in central Taiwan, to tap the resources and talents on the island for faster development of electric cars, Taiwan Economic News said, citing industry sources.
BYD Auto to expand into solar energy field
Shanghai, November 20 (Gasgoo.com) China's electric car manufacturer BYD Auto has announced its plan to march into the solar energy field, reported China Securities Journal today.
Xu An, the manager of BYD's public relations department, said that apart from the information technology and auto business, the new energy will be the third market for BYD to enter. BYD has also revealed that the plan includes the solar power station, energy storage and power plants and new energy vehicles.
