On June 18, both the Changfeng Group-Fiat collaboration to produce new diesel engine and Changfeng Group's annual 150,000 units petrol engine production have been approved by the authorities.
Currently it is not certain if the produced diesel engines will be fitted into the sedans.
However, a few days ago, Chen Zhengchu, general manager of Changfeng Automobile, said the joint venture with Mitsubishi will produce sedans as their main products.
It is not clear which engine will be used by Changfeng to power its new models, there are currently three alternatives: engines produced with Mitsubishi, engines produced by Changfeng, or diesel engine produced with Fiat.
