Gasgoo Munich-On April 29, riding the momentum of the 2026 Beijing Auto Show, Great Wall Motor (GWM) launched its "Covenant · GWM Tuning Culture Day." Focusing on the civilian modification sector, the event showcased a diverse array of modified vehicles in real-world scenarios. It systematically mapped out the path for localized car tuning while simultaneously engaging owners to build a platform for ongoing co-creation and rolling out industry standardization measures.
Every vehicle on display was modified based on the daily needs of ordinary owners, with no professional racing-spec cars in sight. The exhibition area was divided into three realistic zones: urban trendy styling, outdoor functional camping, and hardcore off-road performance. These setups catered to mainstream travel scenarios such as daily commuting, outdoor fishing, long-distance camping, and cross-country expeditions.

Data indicates that more than 70% of owners under GWM's Tank brand have installed add-ons or modified their vehicle's appearance. Meanwhile, the GWM Poer series has cultivated a large-scale community dedicated to pickup truck modifications, regularly hosting grassroots exchange events.
During the event, GWM unveiled a "Three Nevers" self-discipline code for the tuning industry, pledging to strictly uphold vehicle safety baselines, adhere to compliant business practices, and ensure full-cycle after-sales service. The automaker is taking the lead in regulating the civilian modification sector. In a parallel move, GWM engaged with overseas industry resources as key figures from the U.S. Red Rock Off-Road Club attended for an exchange of ideas. The parties held in-depth discussions on practical topics such as compliance standards, ecosystem development, and cross-regional collaboration mechanisms.

Against the backdrop of industry trends, China remains the world's largest auto producer and market, yet its local automotive accessory culture is still taking shape. While relevant policies have clarified the classification of modified models, industry estimates project the domestic tuning market will surpass 250 billion yuan by 2027. GWM has moved early to secure its position, integrating modification compatibility into the entire vehicle R&D process. By reserving standardized interfaces at the factory level, the company is rolling out official co-created modified models in batches.
Moving forward, GWM plans to leverage its multi-brand user communities to regularly host offline modification events. The company aims to refine its full-chain modification layout, deepen R&D for localized usage scenarios, and steadily build a long-term domestic tuning ecosystem that balances compliance, practicality, and mass appeal.
