Gasgoo Munich-Leju Robot and Hunan University have officially inaugurated a joint R&D center dedicated to industrial embodied intelligence agents, according to Gasgoo Embodied Intelligence. The new hub will target real-world industrial needs, focusing on breakthroughs in embodied intelligence technology and large visual perception models. Its goal: to accelerate the deployment of embodied intelligence robots on production lines.

To drive the deployment of embodied intelligence robots, the center has prioritized three key research areas. The first is wide-domain multimodal active perception. Addressing the vast operational spaces of industrial manufacturing, this area aims to solve challenges in precise perception and dynamic adaptation within complex environments—ultimately boosting accuracy and robustness across wider work zones.
Next comes the industrial embodied intelligence large model. By integrating task planning, imitation learning, reinforcement learning, and tactile sensing, the center seeks to overcome bottlenecks such as weak autonomous decision-making, slow response times, and limited task variety. The result: significantly enhanced autonomous capabilities in complex settings.
Finally, the center will develop robots capable of dexterous movement and fine manipulation for both home and industrial environments. A key priority is translating these advancements into practical applications, such as industrial sorting.
This partnership leverages the Hunan University Greater Bay Area Innovation Institute, a collaborative initiative between the university, the Guangzhou municipal government, and the Zengcheng district government. During its initial five-year phase, the institute is targeting six major R&D fields—including AI and robotics, intelligent manufacturing, and new energy vehicles—with the aim of building a platform that integrates industry with education and serves as a hub for incubating and commercializing research.
