Shanghai, March 24 (Gasgoo.com) – The Mazda CX-7 Crossover SUV is to be imported by FAW-Mazda for sale in the Chinese market this year, but no time has been set for the launch yet, reported Jinghua Newspaper, citing company sources.
"Mazda CX-7 Crossover SUVs will be sold through FAW-Mazda's network in China together with existing Mazda 3 hatchbacks, the Mazda 5 and the home-made Mazda 6," said Yu Hongjiang, deputy general manager of the sales unit of FAW-Mazda.
Currently the CX-7 with front or all-wheel drive is sold at prices ranging from 203,000 yuan to 224,000 yuan, and from 218,000 yuan to 243,000 yuan respectively in Japan.
Meanwhile, another CX model, Mazda CX-8 will be imported to the Chinese market in June or July. This upscale Mazda sedan will be priced at about RMB 400,000 ($56,338) in the Chinese market and will also be sold by FAW-Mazda.
"Our goal is to sell 100,000 Mazda vehicles in Chinese market this year," said Yu. "We plan to sell 70,000 Mazda 6 vehicles and 30,000 Mazda 3 hatchbacks, Mazda 5 and Mazda CX-8 vehicles."
While the Mazda 6 at FAW-Mazda, Mazda's other models, including the Mazda 2 and 3, are produced in the Chongqing plant of Chongqing Ford Mazda.
Last year, FAW-Mazda sold 53,994 locally made Mazda 6 vehicles while Changan Ford Mazda sold 1,528 Mazda 2 vehicles and 35,844 Mazda 3 vehicles.
