Mercedes group recently released the latest sales data: Mercedes-Benz sold 365,000 units worldwide from January to April, an increase of 2.2%. In April, Mercedes-Benz in the Chinese market (including Hong Kong and Macao) sold a total of 2,200 units. Sales in mainland region had an increase of 38% over the same period last year.
Its flagship product, the S-class sedan in China (including Hong Kong and Macau) sold nearly 1,000 units. Mainland sales had a 57% growth, remaining top in the luxury car market. R-class luxury sports wagon sales grew robustly, as the Chinese market is a hot market. In addition, in SUV segment, the M-class SUV and multi-purpose GL-class luxury SUV sales continued to grow significantly.
Mercedes-Benz (China) president and chief executive officer said: "In the first four months of 2007, Mercedes-Benz in the Chinese market maintained a steady growth in sales, which is fully embodied the Chinese customers' favor to Mercedes brand and product.
