GM Daewoo Auto & Technology Co, a South Korean unit of General Motors Corp, denied a newspaper report that the auto maker plans to shift its production of small cars to China.
GM Daewoo's spokesman Kim Sung Soo said in Jeju, Korea, yesterday that the report was not true and that the firm would continue expanding its production and sales from Korea. The Korean-language Dong-a Ilbo newspaper reported yesterday that GM Daewoo has taken steps to move minicar output to China as early as 2010 to cut costs, citing the company's managing director for marketing, Lee Hyun Il.
