Gasgoo.com (Shanghai May 22) - According to a study conducted by the China Association for Quality's automobile quality tracking website, che310.com, there were a total of 2,406 automobile-related lawsuits filed in the first quarter of the year, the Beijing Morning Post reported today. The majority of these lawsuits, 2,087 cases, were successful.
The lawsuits originated from 30 different provinces across the country. 80 percent of the automobile brand lawsuits were for vehicles still under warranty, with 10 percent coming from drivers who had owned their vehicle for less than month.
Most of the lawsuits, 30.3 percent, were for engine problems. They were followed by issues with body accessories and transmission systems, accounting for 22.1 percent and 20.26 percent of all lawsuits, respectively. Strange sounds and vibrations was the most complained about engine issue, constituting 6.86 percent of all overall complaints, followed by uneven engine speeds (6.81 percent), acceleration problems (3.57 percent) and excessively high fuel consumption (3.24 percent). Over half of all problems were with compact cars, with roughly equal amounts being for joint venture and own brand models. Additionally, a significant amount of complaints were for JV and imported midsizes.
Also worth mentioning is that complaints related to imported vehicles rose from 2.97 percent in January to 4.12 percent in March. Slow response times and other customer service issues continue to plague imported models.
