Gasgoo Munich-Volvo is expanding its partnership with NVIDIA. Building on a decade-long relationship, the two companies will jointly develop driver-assistance technology, continuously elevating the safety capabilities of Volvo' s future models.
Under the expanded agreement, the partners will draw on Volvo' s deep heritage in vehicle safety to build a driver-assistance system using NVIDIA' s Hyperion sensor and compute architecture. The setup will help Volvo vehicles navigate complex real-world road conditions—covering highways, congested urban streets, and automated parking—enabling safe, end-to-end driving from departure to destination.

The technology will debut in Volvo' s next-generation vehicle, part of the automaker' s most ambitious product rollout to date. Volvo is fusing its industry-leading safety architecture and engineering prowess with NVIDIA' s AI and accelerated computing—pulling together the Hyperion sensor and compute platform, Halos OS, and the Alpamayo Stack drive software.
Volvo President and CEO Håkan Samuelsson noted the brand has set the benchmark for automotive safety for nearly a century. By deepening ties with NVIDIA, Volvo is pairing its proven safety track record with cutting-edge AI. The combination of these two strengths, he said, will yield safer cars with a superior experience for customers.
NVIDIA Founder and CEO Jensen Huang argued that accelerated computing is turning cars into intelligent agents capable of perceiving and understanding their surroundings. Volvo has long been dedicated to protecting all road users, he added. By merging Volvo' s vehicle safety framework with NVIDIA' s Hyperion and Halos technologies, the partners are building a new generation of vehicles that make driving both safer and less demanding.
As the industry pushes through an intelligent transformation, joint development between automakers and chipmakers has become the dominant route to deploying driver-assistance systems. The upgraded Volvo-NVIDIA partnership underscores how traditional luxury brands are anchoring their autonomous-driving strategies firmly in safety.
