Gasgoo Munich- ZF LIFETEC will showcase its latest integrated adaptive passive safety solution at the 2026 InCabin Expo in Barcelona from September 22 to 24. The system fuses occupant sensing with protection features, aiming to provide personalized safety for different occupants while satisfying current and future Euro NCAP regulations.
The solution merges occupant monitoring with adaptive restraint systems. By leveraging cameras, seat sensors, and belt sensors, it captures data on weight, position, and posture from multiple sources, using intelligent algorithms to build a complete picture of the occupant's state. On the hardware front, the setup integrates adaptive airbags with variable venting and adjustable sizing, dual-contour airbags for both driver and passenger, and advanced multi-stage load-limiting belt technology—including the ACR.8 active control retractor. This enables restraint strategies to be precisely tailored to individual occupants and specific crash scenarios.
Euro NCAP's roadmap for 2030 places increasing emphasis on how well restraint systems can accommodate diverse body types and seating postures. ZF LIFETEC argues that merging perception technology with restraint systems will be central to the future of vehicle safety. A demo vehicle at the exhibition will illustrate the entire workflow—from occupant detection to airbag and seatbelt deployment—generating adaptive protection strategies based on individual data. Built on existing production-ready components and leveraging current vehicle sensor architectures, the solution provides a systematic way to elevate occupant protection in next-generation vehicles.
