Gasgoo Munich-AGIBOT and the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) announced today the establishment of a joint industry-academia platform, according to an official statement obtained by Gasgoo on March 31, 2026. The partnership will focus on developing embodied large models and cultivating talent. Zhiyuan is contributing hardware platforms, data resources, and R&D funding, while CUHK is supplying research teams. Together, they aim to accelerate the transition of embodied intelligence from the laboratory to real-world applications.

The collaboration targets two key areas. First, the generalization capabilities and data closed-loops of embodied large models — an effort to lower technical barriers to scaling through breakthroughs in basic research. Second, talent development: CUHK students will gain access to internships and research projects at Zhiyuan, engaging in hands-on engineering with real-world hardware.
Luo Jianlan, chief scientist at Zhiyuan, noted that scaling embodied intelligence requires paradigm shifts in basic research. Cen Meixia, vice-president of CUHK, pointed out that corporate hardware and data resources are crucial for boosting the efficiency of converting academic research into practical results.
From a strategic perspective, Zhiyuan has been increasingly active in the Greater Bay Area. This partnership with CUHK provides an academic anchor for its regional R&D integration. For Hong Kong's local innovation ecosystem, such linkages between industry and academia are vital for addressing the shortage of engineering talent in the field of embodied intelligence.
