Gasgoo Munich- AITO issued a statement on Feb. 24 addressing a vehicle fire incident in Huizhou, Guangdong province.

The company confirmed that an AITO M9 caught fire near Huizhou on Feb. 21, 2026, though no injuries were reported. A preliminary investigation found the vehicle's powertrain — comprising the battery, motor, and electronic control systems — was functioning normally, with no other anomalies detected. The incident was determined not to have originated from the vehicle itself, according to the statement. AITO pledged to cooperate fully with authorities and assist the affected user, urging the public to disregard unverified rumors.
Developed jointly by Seres and Huawei, the AITO M9 first launched on Dec. 26, 2023. A refreshed 2025 model debuted on Mar. 20, 2025, with a starting price of 469,800 yuan. As of Jan. 13, 2026, cumulative deliveries across the M9 lineup had surpassed 270,000 units, according to data from Harmony lntelligent Mobility Alliance.
Visually, the new model retains the family design language. The front fascia features Huawei's dual-megapixel smart projection headlights and an interactive matrix light setup — hallmarks of its high-tech, luxury positioning. Measuring 5,230 mm long, 1,999 mm wide, and 1,800 mm tall with a 3,110 mm wheelbase, the vehicle offers ample interior space.
Inside, the 2025 M9 introduces an upgraded MagLink Mini rear control screen that supports magnetic detachment. It also features a smart laser projection cinema system 2.0, equipped with a 32-inch screen and a pioneering "floating window" interface. The cabin gains smart privacy glass with adjustable opacity, controlled via knobs or voice commands.
Additionally, the onboard refrigerator has been upgraded to a compressor-based unit capable of cooling from 0 to 15°C and heating from 35 to 50°C.
On the equipment front, the 2025 M9 is equipped with four LiDAR sensors, including newly added side and rear short-range units for enhanced perception. The vehicle runs on Huawei's ADS 3.3 system, enabling door-to-door autonomous driving capabilities that require no prior mapping and are not restricted by specific parking spot types. Two external microphones have also been added to detect emergency vehicles and initiate active avoidance.
Powertrain options include two distinct systems. The extended-range version features a new range extender with the engine code HG15T, delivering 118 kW. The pure electric version employs a dual-motor layout — 160 kW on the front axle and 230 kW on the rear — offering a driving range of up to 630 km.
