Annual Champion Changes Hands? Unitree Announces Over 5,500 Humanoid Robot Shipments

Gasgoo Munich- Unitree Robotics issued a clarification statement on the evening of January 22, revealing key figures on its humanoid robot business for 2025.

The statement noted that Unitree Robotics shipped over 5,500 pure humanoid robots in 2025, with more than 6,500 units rolling off production lines during the same period. Unitree Robotics stressed that these figures cover only pure humanoids, excluding dual-arm wheeled or other forms, and urged the industry to distinguish between robot types when making comparisons.

Unitree Robotics' figures significantly exceed previous estimates from several market research firms.

According to Counterpoint Research, global humanoid robot installations reached roughly 16,000 units in 2025, with China accounting for over 80% of that total. Chinese firms — including AgiBot, Unitree Robotics, UBTECH, and LEJU ROBOT — claimed four of the top five spots in the firm's global ranking, signaling the early shape of the industry's hierarchy.

Meanwhile, Omdia's "General Purpose Embodied Robot Market Radar" report pegs global shipments at around 13,000 units. That report placed AgiBot, Unitree Robotics, and UBTECH as the top three shippers, with AgiBot leading at roughly 5,100 units and Unitree Robotics following at about 4,200.

If Unitree Robotics's updated figure of over 5,500 shipments is accurate, it would leapfrog AgiBot to claim the top spot.

AgiBot announced late last year that its 5,000th embodied robot — the X2 — had rolled off the assembly line. Of those 5,000 units, the X1/X2 series accounted for 1,846, the A1/A2 series totaled 1,742, and the G1/G2 series made up 1,412.

The disclosures from Unitree Robotics and AgiBot underscore the rapid pace of China's humanoid robot deployment. This neck-and-neck race in shipments not only reflects surging market demand but also foreshadows a fiercer phase of technological rivalry and scenario expansion. As top players scale up mass production, the center of gravity in the global humanoid robot industry is shifting decisively toward China.
