Gasgoo Munich-Aptiv announced on June 1 that it is expanding its partnership with NVIDIA, aiming to drive a comprehensive upgrade of the NVIDIA Jetson platform—including next-generation offerings like Jetson Thor. The goal is to transform it into a commercially viable, mass-production-ready edge AI platform.
The collaboration focuses on solving a critical bottleneck for companies scaling edge AI in distributed environments: long-term lifecycle support. This includes continuous vulnerability monitoring and security patches, a platform compliant with the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA), and a stable, production-grade Linux runtime environment.

Under the agreement, the two parties will implement a series of core measures:
Provide long-term support for the existing meta-tegra Board Support Package (BSP) on the NVIDIA Yocto Project platform, with a focus on commercial-grade lifecycle management, security updates, and continuous maintenance;
Develop a CRA-compliant Yocto platform to streamline compliance processes and help enterprises mitigate financial and legal liability risks;
Deeply align the Yocto Project mainline with Wind River Linux to reduce technical fragmentation, simplify maintenance tasks, and achieve scalable, long-term technical support;
Build a production-grade foundation for Jetson Thor backed by long-term support, enabling customers to achieve a seamless transition from development to mass production using a secure, maintainable software stack;
Drive market implementation initiatives to accelerate the adoption of commercial-grade Jetson platforms in embedded systems and long-lifecycle deployments.
Additionally, the partnership optimizes the integration between NVIDIA CUDA, the Yocto runtime environment, and meta-tegra. This aims to lower development barriers and help R&D teams accelerate the mass-production deployment of their products.
Aptiv's technology and services already fully cover the existing Jetson installed base as well as next-generation platforms like Jetson Thor. The companies stated they will work together to accelerate the widespread adoption of the NVIDIA Jetson platform across industries such as industrial automation, robotics, aerospace, automotive, and communications.
