Gasgoo Munich- On October 23, the 14th Automobile & Environment Innovation Forum themed "Moving Forward Together," and the 8th Gasgoo Awards ceremony "China Solutions, Global Value" took place in Shanghai. SAIC Motor Vice President and Chief Engineer Zu Sijie delivered a keynote speech titled "The Next Round of Competition: Not Just Products, But Systems."

Zu Sijie argues that the battle in China's auto industry is moving beyond isolated skirmishes over products or technology into a comprehensive competition of systemic capability. Vehicles are evolving from simple transport tools into "intelligent automotive service entities." However, as product cycles accelerate and technology windows narrow, the hit rate for new models has slipped to roughly 10% to 12%. Relying on a single successful model or one standout technology is no longer enough to sustain a lead; companies must hold the line on quality and safety. On the industry front, the sheer length of the supply chain demands systemic coordination. The contest has shifted from individual technologies to entire tech ecosystems, while overseas expansion is transitioning from a trade-driven focus to a "Systemic 2.0" era.
Zu Sijie outlined a strategy centered on the customer: creating an end-to-end closed loop across the entire value chain. He urged the use of "AI+" to overhaul corporate systems, fortify regulatory standards and full-lifecycle safeguards, and build a globally collaborative ecosystem.
