Gasgoo Munich- Avnet and intelligent robotics firm Weston Robot announced a partnership on August 5 to launch an autonomous inspection platform for industrial environments. The platform aims to accelerate the practical application of physical AI in industrial settings, enabling smart devices to perceive, analyze real-world operating conditions, and respond autonomously.

Powered by an AMD Ryzen AI embedded processor, the platform integrates edge AI, smart sensing, and autonomous navigation. The processor delivers up to 50 TOPS of AI compute locally, ensuring low-latency inference and rapid decision-making even when cloud connectivity is constrained. This capability allows companies to detect operational hazards earlier and cut inspection costs.
Inspection capabilities span target detection, anomaly recognition, and the identification of personnel and vehicles. The system also monitors PPE compliance and detects unauthorized entry, while thermal and visual inspections help pinpoint high-temperature zones, fluid leaks, and equipment faults early. Designed for continuous monitoring, the platform suits manufacturing, energy, utilities, transportation, logistics, and critical infrastructure.
For autonomous operations, the robot leverages advanced 3D LiDAR SLAM technology to build high-precision digital maps in real time—even in harsh industrial environments where GPS signals are weak or absent. This enables autonomous navigation, dynamic obstacle avoidance, and real-time route optimization, making it suitable for factories, warehouses, ports, and tunnels.
Avnet said it will tap its partner ecosystem, engineering expertise, and computing hardware platforms to help clients reduce the complexity of bringing robotic solutions from R&D to production. The partnership reflects the convergence of robotics, edge computing, and AI—moving physical AI from concept to deployment to support smarter, safer, and more efficient industrial operations.
