Xu Heyi, chairman of Hyundai's venture with Beijing Automotive Industry Corp, told the media recently that Beijing Hyundai Motor Co., has sold more than 800,000 vehicle units in China since its foundation four and a half years ago, breaking a record for single model to reach a 500,000-units sales mark.
The chairman refers to Elantra, which has achieved the above sales target only forty months after launch. A total of 50.000 Sonata were sold of the 2003 year model. The success of the two models has made Beijing Hyundai into the top 5 in national sedan sales chart, which position is also consolidated by the introduction of Sonata NF, Tucson, and Accent. This March, Beijing Hyundai has extended its production line and till now the venture has a wide range of products, including economic vehicles, mid-high range vehicles, and SUVs.
