Shanghai, February 17 (Gasgoo.com) Beiqi Foton Motor Co., Ltd. said on Monday that it sold 19,500 new buses and trucks in January, a 34.7% decline from a year earlier.
Sales of light trucks, the biggest seller in its vehicle category, totaled 16,800 units, constituting a 30.4% decline from January 2008.
Foton, China's biggest maker of commercial vehicles, sold 409,563 vehicles in 2008, up 1.9% from 2007.
China's commercial vehicle sales continued to slide in January as a result of a sluggish economy. Figures released by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers show 125,100 commercial vehicles were sold in January, down 36.46% from the same month last year.
