Prices for new cars in Belgium maintained their 2.2% year-on-year growth pattern in Quarter 1. Nevertherless, prices remain relatively low, at 6% lower than the average for the euro zone.
The highest price increases in Belgium (of 5.2%) were in the Upper Medium segment.
Sales increased by 9.6% year-on-year - by far the fastest increase in Europe. Growth was concentrated at either end of the market, with only small increases in the volume segments.
Although diesel fuel prices in Belgium are relatively high compared to other euro currency markets, diesel car sales rose by 2.4% and their share increased slightly to 73.8% of total sales.
