BMW Motors GmbH in Steyr is already the group’s largest engine facility and the concern’s diesel engine center of competence, and further expansions plans involving investments in the area of 500 million euros were recently announced.
BMW Motors produces around 600,000 gasoline and diesel engines annually, or around 2,200 a day – with two out of every three BMWs sold around the world boasting an engine from Austria. BMW Steyr develops digital diesel electronics technology, specifically a fully electronic diesel fuel-injection regulator that is the standard for every modern diesel engine.
